Over time, AIDS has become lost among many other humanitarian crises. Why? Perhaps because the problem is so daunting, so overwhelming, so far outside our realm of understanding, that we simply choose to dismiss it. We define the reason for its existence as irresponsibility, choice, or ignorance.
And sadly, by overlooking the people who have HIV/AIDS, we close the door on hope.
By sharing real stories of Kenyans who live with HIV/AIDS every day, we can challenge and inspire others to think differently about this disease. In Swahili, the word “Kumbatia” means embrace. We have adopted this term as an on going effort to share stories of the “embraced” HIV-positive mean and women in Kenya.
Meet several of our clients, embraced and entering the world again with hope.
