BHBC is a medium-sized Baptist church of about 200 regular attenders. It is located a few hundred meters off of the main road through town. It is a relatively old church and was the parent church for previous center Koinonia Baptist.
The Banana center started working with the first phase of clients in June 2009. They have pioneered work with DOREP, a government microfinance and empowerment program, which was very effective in assisting clients with saving and initiating small-scale agricultural income-generating activities. Since then, they have set the precedence for other CFA centers in empowering clients.
Banana Hill is located on Limuru Road between Ruaka and Limuru. It is surrounded by tea fields, which provide much of the local employment. It is also a hub for the matatu industry and the base of operations for the Mungiki sect, a mafia-like organization that controls the matatu business.
Margaret and her husband John have two children. She has envisioned and implemented several innovative strategies for encouraging client attendance and economic empowerment.
Moses is married. He and his wife Jennifer and have one son. Moses was a schoolteacher before assuming this role with CFA and he studied mathematics in college. He is a longtime member of BHBC and has been serving in various ministry roles throughout the years.
