The church is located in a large compound with several wooden structures. The building was constructed through a partnership with two American churches in 2007. The church operates a primary school and a feeding program for local children, which is sponsored by an American church. The partnership agreement with KBB was signed in April 2011 and recruitment was completed during April after over 100 contacts were made. Normal center operations began in May 2011.
Ruiru is a town on Thika road midway between the city center and Thika. It is the site of the intersection of the new bypass and Thika road, so there has been a lot of construction recently and the town is growing quickly. Prostitution is very high in the city at night and contributes to the rapid spread of HIV and extremely high rate in the area. The community also has a high rate of alcoholics.
Esther is married with one child. She was volunteering with programs for vulnerable children and the elderly before applying for the job with CFA. She grew up near the area she now works and is familiar with the community well.
Aggrey is married and has two children. He previously worked for 10 years in a textile factory before serving as an administrator in the church primary school. He also works alongside of the head pastor at Kitambaa Bible Baptist Church to help with discipleship and evangelism.
