KAG is a large, well-established church that serves as the head of the Assemblies of God churches in the region. The church facilities include a stone-block sanctuary that seats about 300 with several attached offices and a separate tin/wood building that holds four large classrooms and two small offices, which are used by the center counselors. The church also runs a home for orphans on its property and manages several projects including greenhouses, bio-gas production facilities and chicken/rabbit-breeding programs.
The KAG center began work with its first group of clients in January 2010. The recruitment went much faster than expected - a testament to the extreme need in the community. The church and pastor have been very involved with the program ever since. They have helped to collect and distribute clothes for clients and even sponsored some of the clients’ children for secondary school. Through Vision Trips, CFA has helped to paint some of the church buildings and construct a chicken coop.
Kamirithu is North of Limuru on the intersection of Limuru Road and the main highway from Nairobi. It is a densely populated area that borders the commercial center of Kwambera. The town is not highly developed. Many buildings are semi-permanent and the town is connected by dirt roads.
Eunice and her husband Peter have one daughter. Eunice had the opportunity to travel to a Canadian University, where she studied nursing and counseling. She and her husband have been involved in planting a church from KAG in a nearby town.
Paul is married, and he and his wife Joseline have four children. For many years, both have helped oversee the children’s ministry at KAG. Paul grew up in the Kamirithu area and still lives close to the church, so he is well-known and well-respected in the community.
